Human CXCL-1 Analyte Overview
Human CXCL-1
Also known as Chemokine Ligand 1, KC, CINC-1, Neutrophil-activating protein 3 (NAP-3), GRO1, Melanoma Growth Stimulating Activity alpha (MGSA-α)
CXCL-1 or GROα, is a proinflammatory chemokine that plays a role in immune responses and many cancers. In the healthy immune system, CXCL-1/GROα is produced by monocytes, epithelial cells, and fibroblasts in response to inflammatory activity. It induces neutrophil migration thought chemotaxis and has antimicrobial effects. It is also capable of promoting lymphatic tube and blood vessel formation within the circulatory system. In individuals with chronic inflammatory diseases, it is produced in high levels by many cell types. Abnormally high levels of CXCL-1 stimulates the growth of tumors and is particularly associated with melanomas due to its normal expression in epithelial cells. As a frequent oncogenic culprit, it is often found up-regulated when tumor cells are present throughout the body.
